Meetings run from 10:00am to 12:00pm. There is free parking and older children are welcome. Cancellations are announced via our Facebook Page and will also be posted here.**Because of the Thanksgiving holiday we will NOT be meeting on November 22** Monday Evening Meetings: We are thrilled to announce that in order to accommodate the schedules of working parents, we will be holding monthly meetings on the 2nd Monday of the month at the Pittsburgh Toy Lending Library, from 5pm to 7pm. The Pittsburgh Toy Lending Library is located on Center Avenue in Shadyside in the East End. Please note that while the Toy Lending Library's facilities will be available for attendees to enjoy during meetings, toys can only be checked in or out during regular Toy Lending Library hours (available on their website). Cancellations are announced via our Facebook Page and will also be posted here. Weather Cancellations: Please note that if Pittsburgh Public Schools are cancelled on the Tuesday of a meeting, the meeting will also be cancelled. 2 hour delays will be handled on a case by case basis, please check the Facebook page and this website for more info in those situations. In the case of Monday evening meetings, the quality of the roads will largely determine whether or not the meeting happens, check the Facebook page or this website for more info. Special Meetings: If you are interested in having a representative from the Pittsburgh Babywearers lead a workshop or give a talk for your local group, please contact Genevieve Hower at genevieve.hower@gmail.com. What happens at meetings: At meetings, parents and caregivers have a chance to try out carriers from our lending library, get help with carriers they already own, and help other parents and caregivers with babywearing questions. Parents-to-be who are exploring their options for babywearing are also welcome at meetings and may find it useful to attend one before the birth of their child in order to understand their options and how to safely use any carriers they plan to have. Parents and caregivers who are experienced babywearers are a huge asset to the group and always encouraged to attend in order to share their expertise. Meetings also serve as a place for parents and caregivers to connect with other parents and caregivers and allow their children to play together. Older children are always welcome at meetings, even those who are no longer being worn. |
