Carrier Lending Library

The carrier lending library is part of what makes the Pittsburgh Babywearers such a valuable resources for parents and caregivers interested in learning how to wear their baby in the safest and most comfortable way.  The carrier lending library allows parents and caregivers to get instructions on how to safely and comfortably use any carrier in our library and borrow it for their own person use for a period of one month.  Carriers can be borrowed at meetings and returned at the next month's meeting.  Alternate return arrangements are possible if the borrower is unable to attend the next meeting.

To borrow a carrier, parents and caregivers are required to fill out their contact information and leave a check in the amount that covers replacement of the carrier. The check will be held, uncashed, until the carrier is returned.  The check will only be cashed if the carrier is returned damaged and needs to be replaced or if the carrier is not returned at all. Though we don't charge a fee for borrowing carriers, donations are always appreciated.  Donations help us to grow our carrier library and to pay miscellaneous fees the group accumulates.

We have the following carriers in our lending library:
  • Sakura Bloom linen ring slings, double and single layer
  • Maya Wrap lightly padded ring sling
  • size 6 Storchenweige woven wrap
  • size 5 Didymos Indio woven wrap
  • size 2 Girasol woven wrap
  • 2 Moby Wrap stretchy wraps
  • Sleepy Wrap stretchy wrap
  • Ergo soft structured carrier
  • Baby Space Onbuhimo
  • BabyHawk mei tai
  • Sachi mei tai
  • unnamed linen mei tai
  • Beco Gemini soft structured carrier
Additionally, we have a few "special occasion" silk ring slings that will be available for borrowing at the leaders' discretion.  If you are interested in trying one of these slings at a meeting, please email the leaders in advance so we can be sure to bring one, as they are not part of our regular lending library.  Arrangements for borrowing any of the silk slings must be made in advance.

If you are interested in trying out a specific carrier that is not listed here, it's a good idea to inquire about it on the Facebook page.  Members frequently bring their own carriers to meetings and it's possible that someone who is a member of the group might be willing to let you try on their own carrier so you can see it in person before you buy.
